During the initial Discovery process, Clickfarm managed over a month of afternoon-long discovery sessions with over 16 unique stakeholder groups, ranging from Aquatics to Youth Development, in addition to key location and administrative staff.

The Discovery process resulted in a complete overhaul of the YMCA of Greater Kansas City’s information architecture and the paths in which specific audiences flow through the site and complete a variety of actions.

The primary site sections were refined to include: programs, locations, schedules, membership, volunteer and donate. These areas are in addition to general information about the YMCA, including career opportunities and the YMCA of Greater Kansas City’s Annual Report.

Simplified navigation allows user tasks, ranging from registering for programs, donating for specific interests, finding volunteer opportunities, career opportunities and even membership details – to be accessible within a few clicks.

The greatest asset that the YMCA of Greater Kansas City has to offer are people who care and are invested in building a better community. Their website was designed with this human connection in mind, including vibrant imagery which features the people who make the YMCA of Greater Kansas City a unique organization.

In addition, the YMCA national brand has extensive color, font and layout brand standards that had to be addressed within an everchanging content-managed system.

The content management system integrates the National brand’s guidelines in a way that is easy to implement. A stackable panel design approach allows content managers to feature a broad range of content while leading users easily into topics that interest them, on both desktop and mobile devices. The stackable panels support a wide range of assets: video, maps, colorful images and broad range of resource documents.

The YMCA of Greater Kansas City needed a platform that helps them move quickly and capitalize on business opportunities.
